The thermo-electric power plant named after Giovanni Montemartini is today a location for an impressive museum, housing over four hundred sculptures of the Musei Capitolini.
Near the old machinery of the first public Roman power plant, masterpieces of the antique sculptures and precious articles made by hand discovered in excavations at the end of the 18th Century and the thirties of 1900, can be seen. These periods were the most fecund of Roman archeology.
Following a chronological path, starting from the oldest times of the city and reaching the late Imperial era, the main moments of urban evolution, documented by the most important examples of the Capitoline collections, were chosen.
