Fori Imperiali e Mercati Traianei

The monumental complex comprises the Museo dei Fori Imperiali, located inside the famous area of the Mercati di Traiano and the archeological areas in the open. These were both excavated in the 18th Century as far as the thirties of the 19th Century and the recent excavations were just completed.

The general idea was to create a single path for visitors so that they may correlate the remains of the antique buildings, seen in the areas in the open, to the architectonic and sculptured fragments used for decoration, arranged and put together again in the places on show.
